Blogging is one of those things that I really struggle with. I must admit, I spend more time gawking at other peoples lives on facebook and instagram, than writing about my own! What a sad truth, and its really something I want to change. But how... Oh its so hard to blog, when I am interrupted every 5 minutes with a diaper change, a drink request... and more recently, the chickens are going into the woods!
But here I am now, and Im going to write about our chicken coup, and the different plans for Parry Farm.
Our hen house was finished mothers day weekend. Chris worked really hard on it for several weeks, and I must say, it turned out super cute. We tried to follow a plan online which didn't turn out to be a plan which was easily followed. So Chris did his own thing. Our 14 chickens love it...and more recently have enjoyed being free range around our property. Unfortunately, over the weekend we were a bit late in letting them out (the girls actually slept in), and we heard a cock-a-doodle-doo! Yikes, we have a rooster! Spot, Olivias favourite chicken, has turned out to be a rooster. It is really nice hearing the cry in the morning, however, I am not sure how the neighbours feel!
I really want our little farm to be a proper hobby farm. We have a nice bit of pasture in frontof the house, which I think we will get some animals to munch on the grass. Trying to decide what is right for our family has been a challenge. I think we have weeded it down to two choices, either mini donkeys or pygmy goats. We went to a mini donkey farm today which was really fun. Next weekend we will head to a pygmy goat farm and see what that is like, and then make a decision. Olivia LOVED the donkeys, as did I. So we shall see.
